THE WONDERING JEW

Of Peace

It is so hard to think of a world so out of kilter, man against man with no reasonable line of thinking, that the idea of turning all that manpower, money, materiel and time be devoted to killing fellow mankind. It does not compute, it really doesn't.

It seems to me that all men of intellect should be working toward seeing that all people of our world be given the opportunity to earn their way to having plenty to eat and places to live, clean water, medical attention and all that it takes to make a pleasant life. And in essence to make that kind of life available to all the people who come after.

Still it doesn't take much thinking to understand how impractical that line of thought is. Just looking at rush hour traffic, seeing the selfish disregard for the safety of others on the road just to gain a car length of space. Seeing the foot race to get a cart of groceries to the checkout before that lame old lady makes it there first, people barging into a parking space at the mall ahead of some one who has been patiently waiting to park there. Seeing that we as humans do not have the couth and consideration of others in small things it is obvious why people have been at war since the beginning of recorded history -- almost assuredly even before then, just not written down.

Seems as if all the high falutin' organizations of nations have just been jockeying to gain the upper hand over other nations, same with diplomats who find words to deny their country's motives and accuse other countries of ulterior aims. What the heck kind of a ball game is that ?

But that appears to be the only game in town. Maybe all the brains in the world should start looking for a way to equalize things in a more equitable manner. Surely most everyone could do without that extra bite of food, using less space in their homes, use more economical means of transportation and on into an infinity of things that could be shared.

It is as much my fault as anyone else's. Our trash receptacles here at home seem to accumulate more waste than seems possible, more left overs go down our garbage grinder than should. We burn more fuel in aimless trips to what ever, where ever, than we should.

Today is my day to have idealistic Dreams Of Peace . . . . . . . . . .
