THE WONDERING JEW

Bushwah

Did it again, read the newspaper. Article in the Sunday Rocky Mountain News/Denver Post by Mike Allen of the Washington post - datelined Crawford, Texas. "Bush set to announce immigration reform plan"

Quotes from the article. "President Bush will propose protections for the Social Security taxes paid by workers who would come into the the country under massive changes to immigration laws he plans to announce Wednesday, Republican officials said Saturday."

"Bush's plan would make it possible for such workers from Mexico and perhaps other countries to collect retirement benefits without being penalized by their home countries for the years they spent working in the United States," the officials said."

"Officials said Bush's plan will contain a new system to help workers who want to enter from Mexico or other countries if they have jobs waiting for them. It also includes a mechanism for some undocumented residents to continue working in the United States and get on a path to legal status.

"Bush is scheduled to announce the package five days before he meets in Mexico with president Vincente Fox, who has been prodding the White House since Bush was inaugurated to change an immigration system that has resulted in at least 8 million undocumented immigrants -- about half of whom are Mexican -- living in the U.S.

"Fox said last month that the two countries are working on agreements to allow Mexicans "to go and come each year as many times as they want, without problems, and so that they can work with documents in the United States."

MY OPINIONS

Some words I bolded. Okay, in my mind undocumented workers translates in real language to illegal aliens. Non-citizens.

Now, "Bush wants to give protection for the Social Security taxes paid by workers who would come into the country under massive changes to immigration laws." So ? Social Security to be paid to illegal aliens ? I have nothing against Social Security being paid to Citizens, but I do object to doing so to aliens. If the tax deductions are automatically done on all workers in the United States and the aliens have given false Social Security numbers, just who is at fault ? And if they begin to draw Social Security how soon will they demand the right for their disabled to go on SSI ? Should a non-citizen actually be paying that tax ?

Here and there I have a bone to pick with the media, Mike Allen says, "An immigration system that has resulted in at least 8 million undocumented immigrants -- about half of whom are Mexican -- living in the U.S." He does not state where he got those figures, why ?

So are we going to throw open the border gates wider yet, document aliens and let them come into our country and work ? How many citizens here do we have now who are unemployed government stats plus those who have given up looking for work ? Why doesn't our country have an adequate border patrol ? Why not put the "Pot-sniffers," to do actual work instead of hunting down and imprisoning some one with a little pot ? Geez, link them hand to hand across our southern border and the excess out patrolling the ocean far out to sea.

If Mike Allen's figures are correct where have the other 4 million "Undocumented Workers" come from ? Why have they been allowed to come into our country to begin with ? Do some of them come in from Canada ? Does it have to come to the point where everyone has to carry verification of citizenship with them at all times ? Something better than drivers licenses maybe -- hell anyone seems to be able to get one of those.

Are Mexico and the U.S. on their way to a merger ?

Seems as if the Ship Of State is headed into chaotic waters for sure now. Big money will be happy to have workers from the south, lower wages, fewer bennies. Sooner or later aliens will be allowed to vote here the same as us citizens. Looks to me like there will be more Bushwah . . . . . . . . . .
