THE WONDERING JEW

News ?

Hope Yen of the Associated Press has a short article in the Rocky Mountain News today. In part:

9/11 PANEL DISMISSES CHENEY'S CRITICISM

"Washington -- The Sept. 11 commissison is standing by its finding that al-Qaida had only limited contact with Iraq before the 2001 terrorist attacks, a determination disputed by Vice President Dick Cheney."

"The 10-member, bipartisan panel issued a one-sentence statement Tuesday saying it had access to the same information as Cheney, who suggested strong ties between ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida."

"Those ties were a central justification the Bush administration gave for going to war with Iraq and were called into question after the commission released a preliminary report last month. The report cited contacts between Saddam's regime and Osama bin Laden but found no collaborative relationship."

"Cheney criticized the commission's finding in an interview with CNBC and said there probably was information about Iraqs links to terrorists that the commission members did not learn during their 14 month investigation. The commission statement disputed that."

"After examining available transcripts of the vice president's public remarks, the 9/11 commission beieves it has access to the same information the vice president has seen regarding contacts between al-Qaida and Iraq prior to the 9/11 attacks," the commission said."

"The commission invited Cheney to offer any evidence he thought it didn't have but received none."

My Opinions.

And here we go. The things that were used as an excuse for a "premptive" war seem to be falling short of the real truth, seems to me. Operation Cheney-smokescreen. Quote Cheney, "There "probably" was information about Iraq's links to terrorists." Seems to me that early on the propaganda put out by the administration was firm and given was supposed to be gospel truth. Now in the aftermath Mr. Cheney says "probably was." If there was so much information available beforehand I would think that Mr. Cheney could recite chapter and verse and where it was written. Probably ? My left foot !

Then, "The commission invited Cheney to offer any evidence he thought it didn't have but received none." Commission said, "Put or shut up." Leads me to think it won't be put up nor will they shutup.

Boggles my mind what conjectures, waffling and outright distortions are published as News ? . . . . . . . . . . .
