An article in the Rocky Mountian News today by Lou Kilzer of that paper. In part:

Report on police spying clouded

Auditors complain of restricted access

"Denver police could still be compiling outlawed intelligence "spy files," according to a critical report by an independent city hired auditing firm."

"Auditors trying to determine if Denver was complying with a 2003 agreement to stop snooping on non-violent political activities said they were given access only to records inside the Denver Police Intelligence Bureau."

"And even then, they said they had to abide by certain strict prohibitions.."

"Auditors were denied access to reports involving two intelligence bureau detectives assigned to a joint federally backed terrorism task force."

"That issue, they said, cuts to the core of their assignment. Without access to those records or a detailed briefing from the detectives, the report concluded "no meaningful audit could be conducted."

"And the issue could go deeper."

"Auditors noted that other police divisions may new be doing some of the work formerly handled by the intelligence bureau. However, the city has allowed auditors to have access only to intelligence bureau records."

"The auditors did not say they had evidence Denver cops were involved in banned activities, only that auditors faced nearly insurmountable bureaucratic roadblocks in trying to confirm compliance."

My opinions:

There is much more in the article, including items indicating that certain detectives are claiming immunity due to feral guidelines. As well the ACLU is in on the act, as they well should be to my way of thinking.

Now, by feral law the airlines must turn over their passenger lists to the guvment so that the ferals can impose "no fly guy" on possibly innocent people and give what amounts to the third degree to persons who they think are of interest.

With a possiblity of police surveiling groups who are not promoting violence but are not liked by the poohbahs in city hall -- just attending an afternoon tea may prohibit one from flying or even living in the city. That is the most favorable outlook on the matter. Possible jail time on suspicion could be the case perhaps.

All these organizations, commercial, legal, banking and some medical groups building and exhanging data bases who knows what else is coming at us ? Will I be forced to allow an installation of video cams in our house hold ? In the bathroom too ?

So we have here an independent auditing firm, hired by the (tee hee) city turned loose in a room with no lights surrounded by Smoky Mirrors . . . . . .
