THE WONDERING JEW

As It Once Was

It seems that the part of the world now known as The Middle East is what was once known as the Cradle Of Civilization. But it appears the cradled baby has disappeared in the mists of forgetfulness. Seems as if all we have anymore is blood thirst, hate and privation. Been that way for centuries too.

I do wonder how things will work out here in our country, now that pensions are being file-13nd and companies reneging on paid health care ? Will we be split into factions killing and hassling each other over crusts ? A roof over the heads of family, clothes to shield one against the elements ?

Most of the major religions have as the main concept other than belief in the Diety, the Golden Rule in some form or other. A simple concept, but one which can be twisted to fit whatever foul notion of someone who has the power to propagandize the masses and convince them to kill, burn, torture and starve others who are a bit different. Are they living in a bipolar type world ? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you -- takes on a whole different meaning when the conceiver is a suicidal madman. Paranoia rules supreme with much of the world and our country is tainted with that too.

Seems to me that war, torture, hunger have been imposed on men and respect and freedom are things that have been taken from man by the ones in power and any form of slavery desired by the victor imposed.

The present situation in Iraq seems to illustrate a few things that should have been considered long before we pogyed in with six-guns blazin,' shock and awe that didn't last. How on God's green earth could we ever expect to bring any peace to that area, an area with many factions constantly fighting each other, the losers being subjected to any and all indignities including painful death. Even as things are unsettled in our own country.

However I still believe what was taught me at my Mother's knee, love for my fellow man and woman, kindness, compassion, sharing with others, helpfulness and beleif in the Diety. As it is now, let it be in peace As It Once Was . . . . . . . . . . . .
