WINTER IN SPRING

Things have a way of toodling along, not much change, no real big amusements, just sort of a contented day to day life. Not bad for me, on the downhill side and coasting.

But lately wife Heather has been ailing with the same thing she has for years, off and on. And pretty well having the same results from the medical profession. This time though our HMO has done a bunch of tests and are planning more. She is due for a renal ultrasound Monday, X-ray didn't show a kidney stone but her symptoms indicate a problem in that area.

Makes a man realize what his mate does during the days when it is up to him to do what needs to be done to keep the internals of the ranch going. So I am much busier than usual, along with the duties I have to pick up are the things I do for her trying to make her as comfortable as possible, be with her, chat if she wishes trying to keep her mind away from hurting.

I miss being on-line so much of the time, that is my normal operational procedure as my deafness precludes much visiting with other folks. Along with that very little TV watching, I do have closed caption on my TV but very few programs interest me evenso.

I don't resent nor regret the loss of on-line time, that's life, one does what one needs to do and she can have every minute of my day if she needs or wants it. But now at the keyboard sitting on my shoulders is Heather's condition and the attendant worry. I rather expect there is one current event or another which would raise my temperature and irritability muchly but even if the time to ponder was there, it just isn't in me right now tonight to delve into things like that.

I usually read at table, having one book or another on tap. Two days ago I started C. S. Lewis "Chronicles Of Narnia," and am already caught up in a children's story. C. S. Lewis is a marvelous writer I see and from what I have heard through the years is a great teacher too. Our oldest son had a boxed set (paper back) that his kids had used through the years and loaned it to me. I am about two thirds through Book One and entranced.

So, of course there is good in my life, but right now, here for me it is WINTER IN SPRING . . . . . . . . .
