IN LIFE

After a very busy day, some of which was successful and some disappointing, I had time to ease off and to read the paper.

Got boggled down right quick reading about the Supremes ruling in essence that any government, city, state or federal can use eminent domain to take any property from the owners for the purpose of "Upgrading" the area. Yeah, right more taxes to the biggies.

They aren't going to put highways through stuff like that, nor are they going to run trains, it is not a crying, need for a school or public building in those areas. Just places that developers and entepreneurs figure they can make a buck.

The big thing in my mind is that the people who will be pushed out should be not only be paid for their property unfairly seized, but should be paid royalties on the income of said developed property. I can see no real "just compensation," hell the biggies figure to make big bucks from a "depressed area condemnation" by paying next to nothing. Decent royalties might be an answer. Naaah, that makes too much sense and might cut into profits from the piracy.

It appears what little freedom the average guy has had in the past is slowly oozing away and the biggies are making money hand over fist through such scandalous operations.

So, nevertheless an item I read in the Spotlight section (where the good stuff is, crosswords, funnies and quotations) rang true to me.

"The real drawback to 'the simplle life' is that it is not simple. If you are living it, you positively can do nothing else. THERE IS NOT TIME."

By Katharine Fullerton Gerould, American writer (1879 - 1944)

Seems especially true to me today, we are fighting what is coming at us from the front and sides and trying to outrun the buggers overtaking us from the rear is no simple thing, especially when our government seems to be the main villains.

Nowadays there is less security and ethical treatment than ever IN LIFE . . . . . . . . .
