RIGHT ON !

today is a good day, got to sleep in, have coffee and breakfast and then the wife and i drove down to the tattered cover about 10:15 a.m. and just arrived home at 2:30 p.m. the intent was to get her a book she wanted as a valentine gift from me, some martha stewart type of thing dealing with fancy cooking i think.

in the tattered cover are all kinds of "crooks and nannies" equipped with soft armchairs and good lighting and no intrusive sales people. there is personnel on the floor to help find books and look things up on their computer for customers.

the upshot is that she found her book and sat down to read a bit of it. as she went to that department i scooted to another floor to check out the availability of some paper back books i wanted.

i found what i was looking for, "i know why the caged bird sings" by maya angelou and a book of her poems in which is "phenomenal woman."

i also picked up a paper back book of poems by pablo neruda as i have been wanting to read some of his poetry after reading a quotation of his work on al schroeder's "nova notes"

it turns out she decided that is what she wanted to give me for valentines day, we both came home in a very good mood.

we were down there for a long time as travel time to there is minute. we get in there and become entranced by books we weren't looking for and sitting down to look in them and maybe read a bit. when one of gets around to it that one heads to the coffee shop on the ground floor and sips coffee until the mate comes on the scene. the the second cup for one of us is consumed to keep the spouse company while we discuss our loot and the neat books we saw.

it's been a pleasant day, weather is shirt sleevey, mood good at the beginning and got better as time hobbled on. looking forward to a nice dinner she has planned, with salad and ice cream and something in between. we don't eat fancy, but we do eat things we like. got a nice receipe for banana bread from a lady on the net and the wife is waiting for some slightly green bananas to ripen a bit and then she will try it.

and thereafter an evening of relaxation and reading until bedtime.
