THE POT STILL BOILS

Way back in the middle of the paper are often very short little items that hint at what ails the world. This one was in the December 10th edition of the Rocky Mountain News. Quoted here in full:

LABOR UNION MEMBERS MARCH IN FERRY DISPUTE

DUBLIN -- "More than 70,000 labor union members brought Irish cities to a standstill Friday to protest a plan to replace ferry workers with low paid Eastern Europeans -- the most bitter industrial showdown Ireland has suffered in decades."

"More than 40,000 trade unionist and ther supporters marched down Dublin's main street to the parliament building behind a banner that read "Equal Rights For All Workers."

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So it is in many countries, not just the US. I get so worked up over things like this that my language gets a bit disconnected.

So the ferrys have been running, obviously they have been making money or they wouldn't still be running. But it seems that businesses and governments have the bad habit of bringing in people who will work for less money. And in the present case of outsourcing work.

Thereupon people who had been working for a living wage are now out of jobs. Like dominos stacked in a row, the plight of the working man gets increasingly worse.

I wonder how things will go when some country takes the outsourced jobs away from Indian companies and gives them to people who will work for less ? ? ? ? ? ?

Pyramid scam on the people of the world it seems to me. By one way or another, hook, crook or blather the work goes to the person who will work for less. Then when someone will work cheaper -- there goes the job.

Maybe eventually we will all grow fur, rearrange our metabolisms to make us comfortable in the worst weather without heat or air conditioning, able to digest most anything grown and live in a personal sty.

Heh, then will come the old sad tale, "We can't give you the food you say you need -- you'll have to get by on less."

What will be the end result ? ? ? ? Possibly the World's work force will have starved to death and the well off will have to till the fields, shovel the coal etc., etc., etc. Or will things get straightened out some day, perhaps while some of us still live.

Dunno, I'm steamed and THE POT IS STILL BOILING . . . . . . . . . . .
