WATER WINGS ?

In Denver, Colorado today it was 85 degrees F. Considerably above normal for us. And the daytime and nighttime temps have been above average pretty much. Yes, it has snowed in our mountains, but I think not enough and we are probably facing drought again.

In another part of the world it is somewhat different. A short item - mid paper in the European Briefing is from Serbia - Montenegro. In full:

SOLDIERS CALLED OUT TO DEAL WITH FLOODING

BELGRADE -- "Flooding threatened thousands of people in northern Serbia on Wednesday, prompting plans for massive evacuation."

"The Danube and Tisa rivers submerged hundreds of acres of fertile plains. Thousands of army troops were dispatched to help municipal workers reinforce embankments with sandbags."

"The situation is very serious. THE TISA REACHED LEVELS UNSEEN HERE IN A HUNDRED YEARS," Agriculture Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic said."

++++++++++++++++

Something periodic perhaps ? Possibly, but putting things together a bit, does it indicate global warming is occurring more rapidly than expected ?

Of course we each have a right to our own opinion, but my money goes on the scientists who have given facts and figures on increased world temperatures, more rapid melting of polar ice and such things as that so that I believe we must be careful that we do not get past the point of no return.

I read some time ago that the "Sahel," (the area south of the Sahara) is growing larger and moving further south each year. Attributed to the poor folks living there denuding the land of trees and shrubs to get firewood to cook and heat with. Will that ever be reversed ?

Some time ago I read that many of our "oaters" (Westerns) are being filmed in an area of Spain that has become desertified due to human mismanagement.

Makes me wonder, will we humans ever get it ?

And Mr. Bush apparently is still holding off and saying that he is not sure about global warming . . . . . .

Wonder how soon we will need WATER WINGS ? . . . . . . . . .
