FOUND IT

Herewith is a copy of the e-mail my friend sent me.

Went to get her poor doggie a drink . . . . . "Bush refused to sign off on the Kyoto agreement"

Well, back during Clinton's time in office, when the Kyoto accords were drawn up, the U.S. Senate (which has to approve all treaties) voted 95 to zero disapproving the whole Koyoto treaty, which is why Clinton never bothered to officially submit it as a treaty for ratification.

Right, ninety-five to nothing.

Not a single senator stood up for it. They knew that it would be economic suicide for the U.S. to meet the goal set by Kyoto; it would be a repeat of the Great Depression.

Now tell me again why this is Bush's fault?

Almost none of the countries that did sign it are coming anywhere near what they promised to do. In fact, the U.S. has done better than many of the countries that signed it.

And China and India would have had no real restrictions under Kyoto -- the vast amounts of pollution pouring out of China do not violate the goals set for China to meet.

The only answer is to get clean energy -- and there are only two feasible answers -- (1) nuclear power (most of western Europe gets far more of their electricity from nuclear plants than we do because of a combination of Greens and NIMBY; and (2) solar power satellites beaming power down to antenna farms (which isn't happening because NASA is a political pork program for key congressional districts and because the UN-worshipping leftists are against any commercial use of space.

In other words, most of the Kyoto cheerleaders are against the very things that could solve the problem.

Regards,

Jim
