"WAY UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AIR"

Way back in the midsection of the Rocky Mountain News in the "National News" section is a very small item - quoted here in full:

U.S. WON'T PROSECUTE MANY FBI TERROR CASES

WASHINGTON -- "The Justice Department increasingly has refused to prosecute FBI cases targeting suspected terrorists over the past five years, according to private researchers who reviewed department records."

"The report being released today by the Tranactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University raises questions about the quality of the FBI's investigations"

"Prosecutors declined to bring charges in 131 of 150 international terrorist case referals from the FBI from October 2005 to June 2006, according to the report."

+++++++++++++++++++

So, are these cases of men who have been "detained" at Guantanamo ? ? ?

Peculiar that the FBI thinks they have incriminating evidence, but Justice apparently doesn't think it is strong enough for conviction.

Seems as how the administration's huge efforts to "sell" terror is falling a bit flat. All these folks scooped up and yet Justic's failure to prosecute should be an indication of the direction the administration was trying to travel, at least that is how I see it.

Possibly the best "Patriot Act" the present administration could accomplish is mass resignations. Of course that would leave the mess for the rest of the country to clean up. Which possibly could be better than our grandchildren having to do the dirty job.

There is an old spiritual song, that of course has a definite religious meaning . . . . yet some of the words remind me of how it is with our biggies now with their spin doctors and all, "There's a wheel in a wheel WAY UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AIR" . . . . . . . . . .
