CYA

Amy Goodman of King Features Syndicate brings forth a few things I had not thought about regarding Scooter Libby, it was plain to see that Bush commuted his sentence, claiming it was "too harsh" but more or less admitted that Scooter was guilty of the crime.

Amy Goodman says the following, "By commuting Scooter Libby's sentence, president George Bush is also protecting himself and vice-president Dick Cheney."

She reports that she talked with former Ambassador Joe Wilson (husband of Valerie Plame) and asked his opinion of the case, she reports he said, "It casts a cloud of suspicion over the president and begs the qustion whether the president is participating in an ongoing obstruction of justice and cover-up of criminal activity within the White House." Amy Goodman says then that she asked him how ? And his reply is reported to have been, "By ensuring that Libby will have no incentive to talk with the special prosecutor."

Amy Goodman goes on to say, "Prisoners often cooperate with government prosecutors in exchange for leniency. With the prison sentence gone, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald loses his leverage over Libby. While Bush and his subordinates stress that Libby still faces a $250,000 fine, the Libby Legal Defense Trust was set up to help him out."

There is more to her article, but I think those are the main points. Only thing further she has of importance I think is, "Scooter Libby retains his Fifth Amendment rights."

How often has the offer been made that some of the biggies will talk, BUT NOT UNDER OATH ?

This whole administration seems to have made itself the butt of every cartoonist and columnist in our country as the "toonists" often see the incongruities of human actions sooner than the rest of us.

And like the turtle, this administration has perfected the art of CYA . . . . . . . . . .
