THE WONDERING JEW

Deja Boo-Boo

Guess the Organized Stinkin' Info agency is now dead in the water. Don't know who the pall bearers will be but expect that the Democrats and the media will have the blame foisted on them for its abortion.

From what little I can get from the MSNBC's article here quoted, of today is causing Rumsfeld to fall back five and punt. And he is not doing the fancy footwork that something like this needs. And I think he is lying in the midst of his blather. He said according to this article, "While much of the thrust of the criticism and the cartoons and comment has been off the mark, the office has been damaged so much that it could not operate effectively."

"The Defense Department will continue trying to get its message across overseas, Rumsfeld said -- just not through the Office Of Strategic Influence." What I think he is saying is that the OSI is closed down, but the lying will live on, could that be the right interpretation ?

"Proposals Would Reach Inside U.S."

"NBC News reported last week that the OSI had circulated classified proposals to disseminate explicitly false information in overseas news reports about U.S.activities. The Times reported that the proposals also would have involved e-mailing messages promoting U.S. views to journalists, civic leaders and foreign leaders from addresses that HID THEIR MILITARY ORIGINS." (CAPS MINE). "Few details of the agency have been made public, including its budget, which was included in emergency Pentagon spending authorized by Congress in October. Defense officials told NBC News on condition of anonymity Monday that some of the proposals went much further than had been previousy reported."

"The officials, who said they opposed (leaving the sinking ship ? MY add on) the program and described it as disturbing and dangerous, told NBC's Jim Miklaszewski that the plan was a detailed proposal that would have included a sweeping campaign of disinformation not only overseas but also in the United States itself."

"The officials said the plan called for a campaign of lies, coercion and "influence" against clerics, schools and news organizations. Some of the propaganda would have been aimed at Muslims inside the country, they said."

"News organizations that did not "follow the Pentagon line" would be punished in unspecified ways, the officials said."

"TRIAL BALLOON"

"The Pentagon last week described the proposals as preliminary ideas being considered among a range of possible options that had not reached Rumsfeld's desk. Rumsfeld said on "Meet the Press" that he had never seen the charter setting up the new office."

"But that characterization of Rumsfeld's limited knowledge was called into question Monday, when the Times reported that Thomas Timmes, the new office's assistant for operations, said at a recent industry conference (Industry? ? ? ? my ?'s) that Rumsfeld had been briefed on the office's purpose and goals at least twice and had given his general support."

"We're into the frustrating part of ironing out differences within our family," Timmes, a former Army colonel and psychological operations officer, said Feb. 8 in Arlington Virginia."

The respected people who got up this report are MSNBC's Alex Johnson, NBC's Jim Miklaszewski, the Associated Press and Reuters.

Darndest bunch of prevarication I think I have ever read. A case of wearing the buck out by passing it. Proclamation of innocence. Not me! One lying and the other swearing to it, but tripping over their own tongues. All that sort of stuff, and even between themselves there doesn't seem to be any honorable truth.

And I am supposed to put my faith and trust in a bunch of power hungry clowns who can't even open a door without hitting themselves in the face. At least in my opinion that is how it looks.

Once again, Deja Boo-Boo . . . . . . . .
