THE WONDERING JEW

Say What ?

Funny thing, the first time I read it in the media I had already read a little history and it struck me as odd and hilarious at the same time then. Czar, hah.

Now, just what the heck is a Homeland Security Czar doing in the US ? The whole thing in a way makes me want to hurl. Whether you spell it Tsar or Czar it still spells, "Cruel Ruler," Remember Ivan the Terrible ? "Homeland," seems to me to be a Nazified attempt to attach importance the Czar.

Do we now have a Goebbels relative as head of the Propaganda Bureau in Washington ? We must have a propaganda department - by some name or another. Reminds me a lot of our clubs we formed when we were still in elementary school. Such long winded, grandiose pufferies might have been expected of us kids. But from the Washington Asylum one would expect better.

Do Czars have a hierarchy ? Czar Top, Czar Vice, Czar Asst. Secy.? Can a Czar go far ? In a buggy or a car ? What's his rank in a bar ? Can he speak first ? Or, just the worst ? Paging DR. Suess !

Seems like our biggies are coming up with fancy names to obscure just what the heck they have in mind. What was the one that just died ? OSI was it ? I bet that it all stayed the same, just the name plate on that door now says something else and maybe the staff militarized but the original purpose will still be pushed to the limit.

Another thing I can't figure out and maybe never will arrive at a sensible conclusion to is Victimless Crime. I would almost guess that we now have more prisons than the country has parking lots just to hold those dangerous ones who had a smidgen of pot in their possession and slammer hammers are still pounding up jails. Going by those principles maybe we should arrest, convict and confine anyone who has more than one of those little airline bottles of booze in their possession. Alcohol in itself is a very addictive drug. By those precepts though, our entire adult population would be in jail somewhere.

As a population we have seemed to be living in fear for years and years. I think that too many of us suspect that our young kids will get into bad habits if they are not kept away from stuff that will be harmful and have been raised to think that anything different than their parents think is wrong, wrong, wrong. We have feared homosexuality from the beginning and have put restrictive laws on homosexuals, we have kept them from having a certificate of commitment as a pair. Unable to get health insurance like others. Not a Wedding license, a wedding or a title of anything but homosexual. So, now for instance, Joe and Jim have lived for forty years together as mates. Joe dies and the bank account, car and house are in his name possibly because Jim was disabled early in his career and couldn't hold a job. What can happen ? Some shirttail cousin or his father and mother can step in and take it all, making sure that his mate gets nothing. Shouldn't we be looking at the pedophiles who are not necessarily homosexual ?

We fear dope and homosexuals. We seem to fear those of a different religious persuasion or who are non-believers. Are we going into a Spanish-type Inquisition ? Or pehaps something like the Massachusetts Witch Trials ? What will be next ? McCarthy is dead but will his attitude and beliefs come into being and ruin more people because of the thought they are base criminals because of having differing thoughts ?

Oh, yeah, now I understand. Any one who looks different, goes to a different church, has different sexual persuasion, has a foreign name and uses a different type of dope (excepting the addictive alcohol) or lives across the tracks or thinks differently is liable to be imprisoned for being who he is and in the process all his money and possessions will be confiscated to the point that even if declared innocent he will be unable to recover them. Is that any way to run a country ? Oh, you disagree ? You are above blame ?

Oh man, Say What ?
