THE WONDERING JEW

Big Talk

How far can a dog run into the woods ? Simple, half-way, after that the dog is running out of the woods. But if his leash tangles causing him to wind himself around a tree or rock he will end up with his leash wound around and choke to death.

It appears to me that much of our world today has a leash entangled in something complicating and some times leashes become intertwined before becoming hooked on an obstacle. As it goes things get even more complicated than ever. Talking heads and called in experts appear to me are trying to tell us what to think about situations. Newspapers at fault for not covering all the news it also appears.

So, we are going to turn over Iraq to the Iraqis by June 30 ? How can it be possible when there is so much fighting, infighting and backbiting ? In my opinion it looks to me that the answer should be that Iraq will be returned to the Iraqis as soon as they become able to agree and keep promises, what other reason makes sense ?

I really wasn't impressed with what Bush said in his news conference recently, some questions were waffled to the extent that meaning was lost. Some questions weren't answered at all, although there were words in reply.

I'm wondering when the message will descend to us on earth, "So long and thanks for all the fish," a la Douglas Adams.

Life goes on -- on and on and on with little ground gained and little learned from history or commonsense consideration. We seem to be going in much tighter circles now, when will we get our leash tightly wound and tangled to a point that we are strangled ?

Heather and I are getting plenty of rest here, in serenity, clean air amid the normal hullabaloo of a family with a six foot-plus teen ager and an almost-teener both of who seem to be engaged in whatever sport is going at the moment. Mama Bear Taxi service seems to be in constant use from early day until the last chick is home. Heather rides shotgun for the most part and I stay here most of the time keeping Cyrano company and trying to keep him from jumping and running the stairs. He will go to the vet and possibly the bone in his leg has fused and they can take out the pin. Takes a bit of calm voice and skritching and some quiet play with his stuffed animal. He is ferocious with that poor thing, I think if it were really alive it would be soon shaken to death.

An old man on a hill among the trees and an occasional deer, wondering what will come of all this Big Talk . . . . . . . . . . . .
