Great post. When I was young, I doubt many folks knew what dyslexia was. I think back about a couple of the kids I knew that struggled in school and I wonder if they had dyslexia. I wish there had been someone to help them or encourage them.

It is truly amazing what some people can accomplish through a combination of will power and sheer hard work. I think about James Earl Jones, the great actor with the deep, rich voice -- who as a child had such an incapacitating stutter that he would attempt to pass himself off a being mute until, one day, a teacher helped him overcome his vocal handicap.

My brother was diagnosed with that, but they had yet to put a program in the school to help. He works with his back and seems rather angry a lot.
