It's such a shame that ***our***government isn't doing this, and putting the burden on the (volunteer contributors) taxpayers. And it's not like the taxpayers don't want to do it... it's that the government doesn't want to allocate the taxes for this purpose. They would have a hard time getting re-elected if they did.... Doug... thanx for being here!

It's not only sad that our government isn't doing more...it is abhorrent that the numbers of wounded - seriously and permanently in need of serious rehabilitation - are concealed from the public. Just as we are not permitted to see the coffins being unloaded, the statistics of those with brain injuries, psychological damage, missing limbs, paraplegics, etc. are also withheld. 3,081 dead listed in the news minimizes the loss of life our young have experienced. If the public knew the truth, I suspect there would be even more marching to end this ill-fated debacle.

There's no sense to this sorry situation, and precious little in the way of solution. I salute those who've spared time and cash to build the Centre.

If it takes the private sector to give what the gov. won't then so be it. Lord knows we give to enough other things that gov. entities should be. Like local cities unwanted animals. I gave, I wrote about it too.
