"Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to protect you. This is for your own good. And it will raise tax money for all or our other vital projects. And, besides, it's really all for the Children!" It's like those traffic light cameras. The purpose is to raise more tax money (and profits for camera technology companies that make campaign contributions to the right legislators) and not safety. Repeated studies have shown that traffic light cameras actually increase the number of accidents at traffic lights as people slam on their brakes to avoid tickets. If they really cared about safety and reducing accidents at traffic light intersections they would add a second or two after one side goes red before turning the other side green.

I wholeheartedly agree people "shouldn't do" a whole lot of things, but to make a law against them, for the most part, is ludicrous. You notice there aren't any laws against senators or congressmen having affairs on their wives - they seem to think that's perfectly ok to do on a regular basis. What if they were locked up every time they broke their marriage vows? Just as ONE example!
