A Garden of Verses was a good old standby for all of our kids too, Doug. In fact, when David was 4, he could recite quite a few of them just from hearing them so often. The first book fell apart and I've replaced it several times and also given copies to grandchildren.

Doug, it is indeed a wonderful book, treasured through quite a few generations now.

Robert Lewis Stevenson... ah, yes, that book was a favorite when I was little... and read from a newer copy to my own children when they were small.... "How do you like to go up in a swing, Up in the air so blue? Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing Ever a child can do!"

"A Child's Garden Of Verses" by Robert Louis Stevenson was a favorite of mine, too.

Well said, Doug! Verse for children is one of the treasures of our culture.
