How well I remember those stamps... My mom got a few things with those stamps. I would rather see the stores giving green stamps than the coupons the give.

They were called 'Green Shield Stamps' here, Doug, and I remember them well. In fact I still have a set of stainless steel coffee spoons I got for my collecting and stamping pains.

They still exist, as <A HREF="http://www.greenpoints.com/account/act_default.asp" target="_blank">S&H Greenpoints. I haven't signed up yet, but I'm giving it some thought.
When I moved into my apartment, I got a lot of things, including my glassware and dishes, with Green Stamps.

Doug, I remember them well. It was a real thrill when I was finally old enough and dexterous enough to be trusted to help affix them to the book. I also remember the first time my mother had to pay cash for sheets--which wasn't until sometime in the last 70s or early 80s. It really pained her since she'd been getting them from S&H all those years.

I remember stamps too. It was always so much fun to go to the place where you cashed them in and look at all the things you could get. I remember sitting with my mom and sticking stamps into books.

I remember green stamps! At 45 there probably aren't that many people younger than me that remember them. I was fairly young when they ceased to be widely used.

I still have some stashed in a cannister somewhere under the sink. And Winn-Dixie had Top Value stamps, which got me a really nice living room wall clock.

I just knew there'd be a lot of responses to this subject about Green Stamps, Doug. My Mum used to collect them, as well, and we helped put them into the books. I can't remember how you got them now, but I wish my local Stop & Shop was involved - it was fun.
