My mother used to make grape jelly. Mmmm. Now you've got me craving Concord grapes!

We had a grape vine at a house when I was young. One year we had so many grapes my mother made jelly and it was so good. Only happened that one time.

We eat (concord) grape jelly almost exclusively in our home. Occasionally we have strawberry jelly, but running out of grape jelly is a travesty. I used to eat PB&J so often, my mom told me I would turn into a PB&J sandwich. With three kids in the house, it's PB&J is a regular delicacy. Indulging in one myself brings back good memories.

You remind me of the grape vines at the House on Court Street. Eating grapes off the vine was wonderful. Yes, my mother made jelly too (do you put a string through the paraffin so you can get it off easier?). Unfortunately, while I can still eat fresh fruit, jams and jellies are off the menu for me now.

Since I grew up at my Grandpa's ranch on which he earned his living by growing grapes, you have brought back many memories for me. He taught me to drive by turning me loose in the vineyard in his '38 Buick. I only took down a couple of grapevines and one fence. The Concord grapes were grown on an arch in the front yard, though, so they were safe.

Oh the memories. I remember when we were small my mom would make elderberry wine. We, of course, never sampled it. I make a pretty good Picallilly. I haven't made it for about 3 years, but my neighbor planted some late tomato plants. If she starts complaining that she is being overrun, I may have to offer to take some off her hands while they're still green and make some.

My mother used to make quince jelly... This year at the county fair I bought a jar of quince jelly and have been enjoying an occasional toasted English muffin with quince jelly for breatfast. It does take me back.
