WHAT'S NEW NOW ?

Stuff is going on here that is amusing and also somewhat confusing.

The governor of our state has signed an executive order allowing state employees to have a union. No strike clause and under the control of state government as well. But it is a great stride for the working stiff I think.

And then the Right To Work people are arming to do their battle for "Right To Work" (for lower wages) again. Hope they lose again. One paragraph in the article on that side of things says this QUOTE: "Government statistics show the average worker in a right-to-work state makes about $5,333 a year less than a comparable worker in a free bargaining or non-right-to-work state. In Colorado, the annual average wage is $37,946, nearly $6,500 more than it is in the six states -- five of which are right-to-work states -- bordering Colorado." UNQUOTE

A sigh of relief that some folks in the fuels industry are thinking with a bit of sense. A company in Broomfield, Colorado is going to break ground in rural Georgia on what's billed as the world's first wood-based commercial ethanol plant. Range Fuel's refinery will rely on Georgia pine trees and forest waste that would otherwise be burned or left to rot. Silicon Valley money and Uncle Sam are bankrolling the plant." Is the gist of what is in the article.

Got me to thinking, didn't we used to call rubbing alcohol "Wood Alcohol" ? Somewhere along the line the name was changed to "isopropyl" . . . . . . . Was it alcohol distilled from wood pulp ?

So, anyway, things are perking along here pretty well. Oldest son is enough healed from his hip operation that mid-December he will have one knee have the bionic treatment. Hope it heals as well for him, he has needed this for ages.

Heather and I about mid-month will be once again headed to Eugene, Oregon to pay our Thanksgiving visit to our baby daughter and her family. Her boy will be celebrating his 18 birthday as well.

We stayed well and got our flu shots at the appropriate time and Monday we will count our pills to see what we will need to order so that we don't run out while gone.

Going to a great grandson's birthday party out in Littleton, Colorado tomorrow, he's one thumpin' jummpin' boy, reminds me of his daddy.

Been a long week tempered with a bit of illness, nothing drastic, just time consuming.

Wonder what is on the menu for the rest of the month, wherein in my puzzled way I shall say WHAT'S NEW NOW ? . . . . . . . . . . . .
